School Times

We believe that every minute is a learning minute, and that coming to school on time and every day is one of the most important ways to ensure that every child makes the best progress they possibly can!

Nursery (morning and afternoon sessions):

Morning session: 8.45am – 11.45am

Afternoon session: 12.15pm – 3.15pm

Upper Foundation Stage, Key stage 1 and 2:

8:45am – 3:15pm

Each class has a ‘rolling entry’ each morning where children can arrive from 8:45am; children have until 9:00am to arrive to their classroom. At 9:00am, classroom doors are locked and, after this, children must enter school via the school office, where they should be signed in by parent/carer, providing a reason for their late arrival.

Children arriving between 9:00am and 9.10 am will be marked as late; arrival after 9.10am will be recorded as an unauthorised absence, where the school team will begin their attendance follow up.

If a pupil has a period of 10 lates in the academic year the academy has the right to record any further lates as unauthorised absence.  The policy is in line with Wakefield Council Code of Conduct on Penalty Notices and falls under Section 44 of the Education Act 1996.

Student Absence

Please let us know before 9:00am, or as soon as you can, if your child is unwell and unable to attend school.  This can be done by phoning 01924 802322 and speaking to a member of the school office team or our Attendance Officer (Miss Mensah) or by leaving a voicemail message.

Where a pupil has 10 or more unauthorised absences, the Academy will work with the Education Welfare Department to seek a penalty notice. Where a pupil’s absence falls below acceptable standards, parents will be contacted by our Attendance officer to discuss the situation. Children below 90% attendance are classed as “Persistent Absentees”. Children have a right to full attendance, not a term time holiday. Please see the Multi Academy Trust attendance policy for more details.
